Morning. 23 degrees, snow on the ground, windy. Have to drive to Colorado today, but the roads look okay.

Good mornin y'all
Doin a little investigating about a different state to move to. Washington State has gotten so liberal that it is unbearable. Top of the list in no particular order so far. Oklahoma Kansas Missouri Wyoming

Does good riding season mean year around? If so, that's already significantly reduced the options, unless you're considering heated gear and just staying off the roads when ice/snow covered. On those considerations this would be Virginia's take 1. Conservative values everywhere except the major population centers, which is why we've been mostly liberal in voting until this year. Just elected a new conservative Governor. 2. Housing / land. As with anywhere, further from the population, the better it gets. Lots of rural areas with decent prices from small lots to acreage if that's what you want. 3. Gun laws. As with anywhere, subject to change. Open carry is legal, and many have concealed carry too. 4. Pandemic approach. Suppose no worse than anywhere else. Everybody has to make up their own mind. Being retired you'll have no employer making it a requirement, or frequent mandatory testing. 5. Riding; I have ridden year around, but it requires the right equipment, and avoiding those roads likely to have black ice, or covered with salt/sand in the mountains until spring rains wash the roads clear. I typically stay to the flatter more open terrain Dec through March and don't typically head over the parkway until sometime in April after some good rains wash all the salt/sand off the mountains. If you just have to have a riding fix, you can always head down to SC, GA and FL for a week or couple months and ride year round.

Riding season in Wyoming is limited and you have to enjoy wind.
