Jones HD of North Little Rock, AR.

With the ES Doofapalooza coming up I wanted to post about my experience with Jones Harley of North Little Rock...

It wasn't good.

I was working my way south to Vicksburg from ES. The bike only had 500 miles when I left home and on the way to ES the clutch needed adjusting and the lever/clevis started squeaking badly. I stopped at Jones to have it ajdusted and lubricated. They got it in right away. So far so good.

So I'm browsing t-shirts waiting for them to finish when the service manager appears. He tells me there is something wrong in my primary...that the tech almost jumped off the bike when he put it in gear it clunked so loud. I said...WTF? It was working great when I brought it in and I wanted to ride it. We wheel it out of the shop, I fire it up, kick it in gear and hear nothing but the normal, reassuring clunk of an HD going into first. I say...WTF? They all sound like this. He says...ride it and you'll hear it.

Off I go...nothing. Sounds great. I get back and the guy says they can fix in that day (Saturday) but it they have to go into the tranny it could be a week or so. I say I can't hear anything. I'll have my dealer look it over when I get home. He says...well, it you want to ride it like that, there's nothing I can do. I agreed with him, paid and left.

It worked flawlessly on the way home...3100 miles later. Took it into my dealer for a look see....nothing. Perfect.

These guys figured I was a RUB and didn't know the difference between normal tranny clunk and a problem. Be very careful if you end up at Jones HD of North Little Rock.

Don't say I didn't warn ya...

Was there a loud, roaring noise coming out of the tubes at the back of the bike? That's a sure sign of small explosions taking place inside the engine that will only get worse if you twist the throttle. You'll need to get that looked at right away.

It's obviously not a legitimate repair unless you have to wait a week for parts.

When is the last time you tried to get parts at a dealer?

It's not the Parts Department. It is the order Department.

I just wanted to get the hell out of there so I really didn't dig into it with the guy. He said one day in the primary and up to a week if it was in the tranny. I suspect he was trying to frighten me into letting them tear into my primary.

As an aside, the clutch adjustment wasn't all that, either. It engaged real late. When I got home I had them readjust it properly. I'm just sayin'...

Ya know, coincidentally I happened to see Deliverance was on cable last night. When I turned the channel it was in the middle of the "Squeal Scene". As bad as that was, the "He sure do have a purty mouth" part creeps me out even more.
