Maybe try a heat gun on low, just to soften the adhesive a bit.

It's only double back tape. If you can't get into them, you'll have to pull the gauges out. Simple really. Pull the outter fairing, each gauge has a 5/16" nut holding the bracket in. Push out thru the face of the fairing. Should give you enough to grab the rings then.

May I suggest this method.
Supplies Needed: 1 Lottery Ticket 1 Case of beer of your choosing 1 pound of c4 plastic explosive Open beer. Chug the whole thing Apply some plastic explosive to said part on fairing Stick in the dippity doo, and open another beer, admire your work. Take deep breath..... hit the button and see if parts have been "magically" removed. Have another beer. Scratch Off Lottery ticket....see if you won enough to replace entire fairing. If this doenst work.....then I say best is to use the Heat Gun theory....

I think I'd try the heat gun, if that didn't do it alone, a slow drip of "goof off" under/behind the chrome trim while your heating it up. I'm assuming its a painted fairing. goof off isn't supposed to damage paint, but you probaby better test it someplace inconspicious first. Dont think I'd use the goof off on a plain black plastic fairing, I'm pretty sure it'd melt the plastic.

Lighter fluid. It'll break down the glue and not hurt the paint.
Simple and effective.

Yup. I think the active ingredient is Naptha. Lighter fluid is cheaper.
Give the beer to Les.

I got some stuff called Goo Gone, smells like oranges, dont know about its compatability with abs plastics, the stuff works great on stickers and bubble gum.
