Ed, I've had good luck with the S/E gaskets. Toss them in the freezer before you go to install them, it'll make it a little easier.

Which cams are you looking at?

Bike still has the road grime from riding what seemed like a thousand miles in the rain coming back from Fennimore. Bike needs a bath.

Exhaust gaskets will depend on pipe style. V&H Dresser Duals hate SE gaskets, work best with the ones that come woth Rineharts, just by way of illustration.
Go figure.
Isn't this fun?

Humm? The ones that were in there with my Rineharts sure looked like the stock ones I reinstalled?

I'm sure the dealer used the correct ones when they installed the pipes.

I know a Harley Mechanic with a drawer full of those, too.

Nice work Ed!

The OEM ones can crush and intrude into the exhaust flow. When I switched pipes, I found one of mine had actually done that. I went with these and have had no sealing problems.

Thanks!

Wish that would have come out about a month ago. The version they had at the dealership when I took my bike in for them to look at was from Feb 18, 2010...TT411A.

Gives me a few other things to check and verify and do while I have it torn down, I guess. Appreciate it!

Interesting. I've used SE exhaust gaskets with my V&H Dresser Duals since 2004... don't seem have any issues with them.

The small metal bracket that holds up the rear pipe (the one that bolts to the starter), though, has cracked for a few people that I know of. Mine has broken twice, mostly because of hard acceleration. I keep a spare in the saddlebag.

Interesting. I get some oil in the a/c, but I think that's just because the Ventilator has no oil management. I don't get it pouring out of the bottom of the filter like Ed's did though.
