The Stud
or Stude
as in Studebaker. I took a quick run downtown and found these in one of the parking lots across the street from the museum: .

And then this evening my joy was tempered when I realized that I was in the process of buying a '65 Avanti when I got my draft notice.
Along with that, I also realized that I was older than all those antique vehicles.

I have no idea of the model, but I like the one in the fourth picture. Two door with white top and truck spare tire.

Antiques have to be over 100 years old. You, sir, are a classic.

That's a Studebaker Hawk. Six and eight are Hawks, too.

My BIL had a Studebaker Hawk with a 289 Commando engine.
He used to let me borrow it until I tore the rear end out of it. That's what comes with letting a 16 year old drive your car.

The Spare tire on the rear bumper of a car used to be called a, Continental kit...
http://continentalkit.com/ Driving my friends '48 Stude Pick-Up was a pain, because every other shift found me pushing down the clutch too far and engaging the starter... Ouch! Seeing fender skirts anymore is pretty rare.

When I was in grad school, my next door neighbor had an Edsel. One of my favorite car-related memories is seeing the Edsel and a tiny electric car pass each other on the road.
