Lots of seats are good for a coupla hunnerd miles. The proof comes in between 600 and 1000 miles. I have found that a firmer seat is much more comfortable on a long trip.

This. All of this. I went with the heated version and love it. Of course with you being in Texas, you could do without it. But it's worth the money. I've only put 150 total miles on mine so far, but I'm completely satisfied with it. Jenni ended up saving me some money as well.
I'll know for sure when I ride down to VA for TOTM. 900 miles door to door.

I had a Mustang on my RK but it wouldn't fit on the Ultra. I gave it to Steve and decided to try a Corbin. Good decision on my part.

I found a Zepplin seat for $100 on craigslist...of course by the time I replied it was gone. The guy sold the bike but has the seat along with some stock take-off parts that you HAD to take with the seat.
I think I'll just keep trying more miles, and get an airhawk as a backup.

Some people don't like the Mustang touring saddle because it does sit you up a bit higher, and some complain they cant' touch flat footed. For that reason they may prefer Corbin as it sits you lower and for more $$$ you can customize and even make it lower, I think. The Mustang touring saddle is not an issue for me with a 32" inseam.
Ben, I thought you were taller than me,... you'd probably have no issue with it either. Corbin does make a very handsome saddle, though, and you can customize highly. In the end, its pretty much what Dinero says: everyone is built different. People have different sit bones. With either saddle, if you're going to do long miles, I'd suggest a backrest.

I'm 6'5", so reaching the ground flat footed isn't a problem at all. It's just my butt bones....and I do have a rider's back rest. As jacked up as my back is, I can't do more than a couple of miles w/out it.
