Heck, if you're going to go to a Daiquiris Shop in Slidell, you might as well travel the extra 35 minutes to New Orleans.

If I had my choice, and this is just me, between sitting in a Daiquiris Shop in Slidell or sitting in the Quarter in any shop, restaurant, cafe, there would be no choice. To me it's sorta like choosing between going to the movies to see Sofie's Choice or going to Mardi Gras.

In any case if you're going anytime after August 11th, my schedule permitting, I'd be happy to join you.

Reminds me of a certain Halloween night when we lost N00dles in an elevator in Jax Brewery.

They have some pretty interesting impromptu parades down there too.

We'll be halfway there next weekend. Planning on going to the Little Sturgis rally in MS.

I have to agree. I'd just stop at the daiquiri shop on the way to the French Quarter like we used to do. Then 3:00 a.m. Shoney's breakfast bar on the way home!

Yes, they are

In my younger, less aged years I would party in the French Quarter until dawn and then go to the Café du Monde for some beignets before going to bed. Now, I can't stay up nearly that late and can't sleep in either

My young po ass used to sell hardware on the road. Slept in the car more than a couple nights. When I made it to N.O. I'd get a room out by the airport. Used to put some motel ice in the bottom of one of those itty bitty garbage cans, sit another one on top of the ice, dump an eight-pack of Miller ponies in and fill everything up with ice. I'd catch a nap, then ride down to the quarter about 10 and park - seemed like the crazies materialized around 11. Never went in the bars - didn't have any money, just walked the streets and sat outside and listened .. and watched. Learned a little about cookin' just from the smell of the place. Ease back to the car from time to time for a short beer. Slide down to the river at day break. I'll always love the blues.
