Mine started out black. But I've had plenty of chrome baubles powder coated black. The guy I use acid-washes and media-blasts the chrome off prior to coating.

Hehehe, finally drove the 40m down the valley to get them from the ceramic coaters.... Now when to cripple the Blue Mule for 1/2 a day in the height of riding season...

Ya 2-3hrs with beer breaks, but then I want to download a new map too - so I can see a half day shot just like that...... Had this bike apart once or twice

Wow, my buddy did his existing Rhineharts along with mine, cause he was in camp for 2 weeks so we could decommishion his while he was gone.
Naturally he was all ansty on his return and as soon as I brought them back he hit the garage.
The diff is amazing, after a good ride and shutting down, you can briefly touch the pipes and I can hold my hand a 1/4" away from the pipe right where it exits the exaust port, Holy Crap!! Another weird side note the bike even sounds different, less sharp staccatto and is deeper and a little more muted, at idle anyways.
Thats it I'm starting on mine tomorrow.....

Well, got started today as the weather took a turn and I can't stand a bud being a leg up on me. I have waffled getting going cause I knew it would be ugly, and I was right , have to pull the backrest actuator to get the rear heat shield out and removing the Bub tranny bracket requires pulling the oil vent line, oil filler and outer tranny cover cause the last bolt on the far right hits the clutch cable entry.... nothing like engineering!!
On the plus on the V&H even though there are 11 hose clamps once it's together it's a pretty simple thing to pull, unlike that bitchy Bub rear cyl pipe.... head pipes are decievingly close, only 2" in V&H's favour - though it looks like a lot more. 1.5 hrs today, a couple tomorrow, a new map download on Thurs and then Sturgis North kicks off - 20 thousand bikes expected this weekend

Why yes it is, won't run anything else and on my next oil change, just before Sturgis I'll be putting their 20/60 syn in the mill, love that stuff for shutting up the valve train and still showing something on the guage if you get stuck in stupid traffic.....

Here she is, what a royal MF'en pain in the azz - 11 hose clamps either 5/16 or 7mm..... and just getting the exhaust flanges done up. My last pipe for the next few years, but sounds deep and tough, can't wait to down load a map tomorrow and go for a snort...
