Catching a wireless router signal?
How would one go about catching a weak signal and boosting it in another part of property?
Can one buy the parts off the shelf?

netgear makes some good repeaters.... I put one in to extend the signal to the other end of the house ... the router/hub is in a closet at one end of the house, the netgear repeater is in the middle of the house and extends the wireless network through the rest of the house....... I have had it for about 2-3 years, works GREAT !!!

if you have 'extensive' property you will need several repaters to cover the entire place ...

The right advice is already in the thread. Just purchase a wireless access point or another router (set it up as access point) and make sure to install it close enough to the router that it has good signal. Otherwise, it won't do any good other than to make you think you have extended the range of your Internet connection.

I've got a repeater that I'm on presently. Put it in the back window of the house and we get signal (main screen turn on) in shop now.
Best buy, less than $50, IIRC. No cables, just plug in and set up.

Wal-Mart, Staples, Office Depot or even Sears will have them as well. Try to buy the same brand access point as you have for your primary router.
