Ready for the big day

For the last year and a half I’ve been saddled with a back injury that has kept me from doing almost everything, including riding. The pain has been up there on the smiley-frown scale. I had some good days, but mostly bad lately. Add to that the heart attack and blood thinners and surgery was out of the question.

I’m finally scheduled for surgery on Monday. It’s pretty unnerving because they go in through the front and have to spread all the guts and arteries out of the way, then flip me over to finish the job from the back. Needless to say, it’s not an outpatient kind of thing. Hopefully it’ll bring some relief.

I’ve got things to do, places to go, and people to see!

Been through something similar when I had my surgery for bladder cancer. Cut from above the belly button, around it and down to just above the 'drainage implement'. Took a bunch of stuff out, moved some stuff around, made a 'bladder' out of spare parts, put it all back. Nine years later and I'm still here to talk about it. These guys are really good at what they do. Focus on that!

Guessing, based on his description of the surgery, good chance he could still be in the hospital. I was in for a week when I had mine and his sounded like it may have been even more complicated than mine. Prayers will continue.
