it's hard to believe what a difference there is between the sales people at GMC and Chevy dealers...at least around here in Pa.

So while you're standing on the lot. Would made you pull the trigger on the Sierra over the Silverado? Did the sales guy talk crap about the Silverado?

It was just the right combination, at the right time, at the right price. It's a 2008 that I bought used with 21,000 miles on it. 5.3L v8 Vortec, towing package, Z71, active fuel mgmt. for highway, extended cab with 180-degree swingout doors, power windows on rear doors (tinted like rear window), rear window defrost, 4L/4H/Auto 4WD/2H capability, nice and tight interior, standard 6.5' bed, XM/Sirius and OnStar capable, balance of 5 yr./100,000 powertrain warranty and 3 yr./36,000 bumper-to-bumper, etc., etc., and a bunch of other crap I like, plus it's the best color.

I like being able to haul wood, pull the boat, and move stuff while still having something that cleans up well and is reasonably safe for a road trip.

I would have bought a Chevy if I'd found one with the same attributes at the same or better price anywhere within a 3-hour drive. We drove 2.5 hours to get this one at a GMC/Chevy dealer in the boonies that was darn glad to have my business and ready to deal. This one was just the right fit at the right time.

Chevy and GMC pick ups are basicly the exact same thing save trim.
They are now, but back in the 50s, the GMCs could be ordered with a larger 6, some allowed for a straight 8 pontiac engine, special order, and were positive ground. The body parts fit, but there were a lot of differences, then.
