Timmy, I've been through it.

My ex and I hated each other and wanted/needed to be apart. Once the lawyers got involved, what should have been a simple divorce took 20 months and 6 figures. Do not count on her being nice, and don't be nice. Protect yourself, because no one else will.

Above all, don't ever let your daughter hear anything negative about your ex come from your mouth.

Sorry man, it totally sucks, but you'll get through it and be better for it.

Tim, so sorry, man, but just know from those who have gone before that there is good in your future. No matter how depressing and distressing it will be at some point, it WILL BE BETTER ahead.
I totally relate to the 'blind-sided' comment. Twenty-five years for me and fifteen SINCE.
I NEVER saw it coming...gob-smacked would be the best description. Moving-on seemed impossible to even comprehend at first but it has been great!
Reconsider a lawyer, seriously.
You have a short window of time to CYA and even if it means a loan, it is worth considering.
And from the bottom of my heart, my hat's off to you for taking the high road regarding your wife's position and maintaining a level of respect through all of this. You're a good guy, Tim. Despite the short term difficulty, this will bode well for you in the fullness of time, especially with the kids.
