Which air filter is the K&N....
Below is a picture of the air filters that belongs in one of our bikes that was used when we bought it, I replaced the old filter with a new "stock" filter last month 3 weeks before the bike when the Local DealerShip for a service and when we went to pick the bike up the Service Guy said something about cleaning and reoiling the K&N filter............

...and now for the REST of the story....
N00dles replaced the original stock air filter with a new stock filter just before I left on my trip out West 2 months ago. Now that there is 30K+ miles on the bike, I took it in for its 30K service. I chose this dealer because they quoted me $262, whereas the other dealer quoted me $390, and an independent shop quoted N00dles $600. Since I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel financially, I chose the place I could afford. Yes, I could learn to do my own service, but I don't want to. My job list is long enough as it is without adding more responsibilities. And as most people know, N00dles is seldom ever home because he's either on the road or he's out doing whatever it is he does when he's not working, so he doesn't really have time to fool with it.
So back to the service... when I picked up the bike, I only spoke to the service manager, not the tech guy who actually did the service. I don't remember how the subject of the air filter came up - I think I probably asked him if it was replaced. The service manager asked ME if it was stock or K&N and I didn't know. Since it has a Stage 1, he suggested that it was probably a K&N and they would have cleaned and oiled it since it's good for 100K miles. I'm sure the service manager never actually looked at it since that was the tech's job. I reported the conversation back to N00dles and it was then that he reminded me that he had changed the paper stock filter before my trip.

So there is an "if it was a K&N, then we clean and oil those" and not a statement nor a charge that says they did those things. That sounds acceptable...but you would think that would be on th bill along with parts used.
