Unpacking one of these, the first thought was man, this little box is pretty heavy. Turns out there are a few pounds of attachment hardware in there. A rather amazing collection of goodies, actually. The little box inside has helmet mounting stuff and the main box has a pile of various bits and some big-assed suction cups.
It's hard to gauge how much it matters at this point, but the first omission I see is that there's no review screen for editing but I can't rule out there being some alternate mechanism that I just haven't discovered. Wouldn't it be awesome if it Bluetooth-ed video to the phone? A lot to learn and no real time just now. I need to do some playing with it but not in the middle of Christmas. Here are some pics of what's in the box.

You'll have to edit the video on a computer.

Hours and hours of video pared down to 4-5 minute 'shows' for youtube.

Believe it or not, Windows Movie Maker works real well.

I use a desktop, as it has a pretty large monitor........

Yeah, I'm thinking that an onboard screen, even a tiny one could be useful in the field to at least do some 'blunt force' editing in the event of memory shortage. I've put a fast 32G Micro SD in it, so it should hold quite a bit of video.
I have no idea when I presume I'll have the time to edit it(!)

Maybe theirs an aftermarket screen you could plug in to preview and rough edit. USB port maybe? Bluetooth it to your I phone?

Yeah, it would be great if bluetooth video out was a thing. I will be working toward iPhone playback if workable.

My GoPro Hero3+ Black is not bluetooth, but rather WiFi.

I can connect my phone and use it as a remote control, and view a live preview of what I am recording

Then I can switch over to the remote provided and control every function from my handlebar while the phone is tucked safely away in the tourpak.

Sometimes I think the original is the best.

Size? It's small. Like cut a pack of cigarettes in half.

I'll stick one or two of Cody's Jazz band I took with the GoPro after while

I'm learning as I go. On Sena's discussion board the BT vid-out has been talked about and Sena says they are looking at it for possible future implementation (don't hold yer breath)
I firmly believe that a cable can be used to do playback or realtime display on the phone but haven't proven this yet.
Obviously, doing this wirelessly would be better and SHOULD already be there.

What I've learned thus far: with a 32G card (micro SD) it's supposed to do 4.5 hrs.
You'll need to supply power for that as the battery is good for 2 hrs.
The battery is removable and spares can be had but are not included.
The SENA iPhone app uses BT to give you control of the camera's various settings but NOT remote control or playback.
The headset, once paired (with any brand) you use the jog dial on the headset to remote control the camera functions record/ pause, etc
The camera uses voice prompts in your headset to give you feed back on what the camera is doing; recording/paused/ time since last record/battery level/ memory level etc
The camera does NOT accept voice commands (you can't say "record" and the camera respond)
The camera can record your voice on the vid real time and if selected, it will include the voices of others paired with you so you have the whole conversation integrated real time. You can easily narrate the ride.
Since the ext mic is off when paired to the headset, there's not any wind noise on the recording if you're wearing a full face lid.
The camera is "waterproof" on the spec sheet but also includes a marine housing good to 40 meters. I believe this means that you should not need the marine housing for riding unless it is used to control noise (if not paired) or dust.
So far, I have not paired it with a headset, only a phone to try the settings.
That worked just fine, but not super-useful. I expect there to be useful upgrades to this app.
Noteworthy: You don't NEED a phone or app or a headset to use the camera...all the settings are workable using the two buttons and the onboard display.
Without those what you don't have is remote control and remote feedback.
I used it on the way to work in the truck without bluetooth. It worked well, the mount was solid and I made a perfectly boring video of the drive...which I deleted.
I formatted the card in the camera, set the sleep timer, set it videoing in the office and walked out. I wanted to see if the sleep setting came into play during stationary video recording or not. Gone for an hour or so; then I checked it and it was dead.
I mean stone cold dead, as if the battery had died. It took removing the battery to get it to respond...it had crashed, the battery was fine.

So, It has promise, but it's off to an inauspicious start.

Note about the GoPro: obviously they are the standard of the industry and offer several features not found on this one. My biggest issue with them (I've never actually used one) is one of the silliest metrics to measure... I don't like how they look. Said another way; I don't like the fact that their design puts the lens on the broad side of the box. A GoPro on a stalk on top of a helmet, broad side to the wind is just a bit too Teletubby for my tastes, though certainly endless other mounting options are available, it's always fat-side-first. I WANT the cam helmet-mounted so this is part of the consideration for my use. The Contour is the sleekest thing out there and I was considering one. The Sena addressed the lens placement, could be used without the marine box and added the BT so I figured I'd give it a shot. A big part of this thing's future worthiness will be determined by how quickly SENA can up the feature set with firmware upgrades.

Sena isn't the fastest with upgrades. GoPro's size, weight and quality are absolute advantages.

I prefer the GoPro and can still get them for my friends here at deeply discounted prices.
