Dirk.. Next time, use a piece of 3/4" inside diameter black iron pipe on the end of a 1/2 inch breaker bar.

That's what I used and it was a piece of cake.

Nice pics.

A good afternoon in the shop, short block ready to go in on Tues when they open and my bud's back rim looks pretty good with the radius of the back fender......almost to the point of trying to run it without bags.

Cheers,
Dirk

Dirk;

How many miles on that Stator/rotor combo???

If your anywhere around 50k, you might just think about replacing it now and save a headache later.

That's what I keep telling myself as the parts list to install the SE 120R in my 06 Street Bob keeps growing. At least there are still several months of winter left ahead of me, and like Dirk I do have an indoor spot to work on it.

The SE 120R is starting to take off like wildfire around here, the price is good and support is there, heard my first one this weekend in a RG ultra with a D&D Fatcat, pretty stout.
The snowball effect on a install is a wonderful thing

Cheers,
Dirk

Mike, stop spoiling all my fun... After I hung my voltage regulator upside down I had a small lake of water drain from it's internals
Couple chunks of stator missing yada yada, I'll see what I can do for a real HO alt - over 50+Amp... for heated gear and junk.

Cheers,
Dirk

Search back in the threads. Peacekeeper put an aftermarket stator with higher output in not long ago.

Russ is going the LED headlight and eventually passing lamp route for better lighting and reduced draw as well.

Oh, and your stator looks better than mine did.. Magnets were actually loose from the housing.

Yup. I can't recall what the difference in draw was, but I think it was like 3 amps less on the LED headlight. I figure that helps offset the draw of the amp.

Turned the crank a little and heard something fall, looked closer and damn its a wonder this thing charged a battery at all.
It's last road trip was Sturgis, could have got a little pricey.....

Cheers,
Dirk

Whoa, WTF - I decided to branch out and talk to the premier Harley speed shop on the coast (don't know if I can use names) and they won't even use the Jims/SE Timken bearing sleeve anymore.
Part# 34822-08, 12 installs and 3 failures - 1 10/32 screw came out and went thru the motor - BOOM! and 2 more motors where taken apart for further stuff and the 10/32's where finger tight even with green locktite and he's never seen a roller bearing failure on a street bike.
These guys build some serious hardware, and have been around for a long time so I'm inclined to take his word......6 - 10/32's in that enviroment don't cut it.
Stopped the stealership already.

Cheers,
Dirk
