Success!

Back in October, I spent 10 days in Korea. While riding the subways and meeting with our Korean counterparts, I became very conscious of my weight. Even worse was knowing that I would fail a weigh-in for the Army Reserve.

When I got back, I got on the scale - I weighed 257 pounds. I was disgusted with myself for letting it get that bad.

Been doing a Couch-to-5k running training plan and using the elliptical trainer on days I wasn't running. Also went on the SlimFast 3-2-1 meal plan (1200-1500 Calories a day.)

Got on the scale this morning before I went to my physical - 219 lbs.

And this is after the best efforts of Iggy, Mary, and Y2K King to plump us up over New Year's!

Will get down to 210 before easing up on the diet a little, but very happy with my success!

Thanks to my friends here for the support and encouragement!

I'm around 225 now, and looking for 190 by ES.
Fat chance, but I'm looking.
Congratulations on your success, though!

james i'll be the first to tell ya that judging yourself based on what you saw in Korea is the wrong thing to do.....trust me on this. i know how ya feel though i've been flirting with 600-9 for the last 14 years of my 16 that i've been in.....it's a bitch trust me. right now i'm about 245 thanks to some good holiday cookin and a very busy work schedule. CONGRATS on dropping the pounds though....it's time for me to start hitting the gym myself....i just need to get motivated..

Congrats on your progress.

Over the summer and fall I had dropped from 232 down to 214, then I screwed up my knee followed by XMAS sweets and crap. Now I'm back up to 225. Guess I'll be starting all over again when I can move around again.

Josh, Thanks. Mine's as a result of Graduate School followed by divorce, followed by a pretty rough car wreck that totalled the Navigator I was driving. My weight just wasn't a priority. The thing with the Korea trip was that I was finally able to see for myself what some of my friends (a retired Warrant and Senior NCO in particular) were on me about. God bless 'em for giving a damn about me!

Mike - Thanks! I went into a panic when I sprained my knee just before Thanksgiving. It's just been within the last week or two that I'm finally back to full speed - or what passes for speed in my case!

Funny story - several years ago, the Major I was working for saw me running when he was driving in to work. Later than morning, he asked how it was going and if I was in pain when I ran? I asked why and he said "You have one of the ugliest strides I have ever seen. It hurts ME to watch you run!"

Good luck on your recovery!

Thanks Cindy. I kept seeing your posts and thinking "She's doing it, why can't I."

So basically, this is your fault!
