Dead bike Part Deux.........

So, about two weeks ago or so, I replaced the regulator on my bike. Not too bad, 98,000 miles and only the second time I've replaced one.

Today out for a ride and POOF! The voltage regulator dips to 10V. Get home OK, put the multi meter on the battery, and yep, it's only getting 11.94 volts to it.

Pull the inspection cover on the outter primary, and EEEeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwww......................... The smell!!



Yea, Fried a frikin' stator!!

Why is my bike making my case for me to buy a new 2014?? WHY?!?!?!?!?!?

Well, at least you were close to home. I was never closer than more than an hour from home, or the nearest dealer.

Guaranteed, unless you go with one of the aftermarket 3 phase units, the next one won't last as long as this one.

My Stator went TU today as well. I was on a ride to retrieve some Wounded Warriors from Walter Reid when my battery light came on along with the engine light, volts started dropping. Got to Bethesda, left the bike running, did some grip and grins, passed off the lead to an alternate and boogied home. Bike died as I backed it into the garage.

More info on these 3 stage stators.....are they available for an '09? What's the source?

I see HD has 29900028 now that is a 54 amp system, unsure as to the phase, but that kit comes with the stator, rotor, regulator and all gaskets and hardware....not sure if it'd fit on your bike, Steve, but it's there. Says it won't fit mine, but that's because they think I still have the factory compensator sprocket.
