Crash on Overland Road sends 3 people to hospital



BOISE -- Three people were sent to the hospital this morning after a van and truck collided at the intersection of W. Overland Road and W. Hummel Drive in Boise.

Two people inside the van had to be extricated from the vehicle. One person is the truck was also hurt and taken to the hospital. A police spokesman says their injuries are not life-threatening, but not much else was known.

The accident happened around 10:30 a.m.

According to Boise Police, the female driver of the truck was headed eastbound when she began to choke of a piece of food. She pulled into the turn lane and started to turn left at Hummel Road when she collided with the van. She told police that the impact of the air bag dislodged the food from her throat.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued.

The westbound lanes of Overland Road between Curtis and Cole roads were closed for more than one hour while emergency crews responded.
