Lodging host expectations?

After spending the night in a Motel / Hotel, are your expectations that the motel / hotel should come and do recovery or break down services?

After going way off road on some forestry service / access road, then get stuck in the mud, snow or hung up on some rocks.

My main expectations for a hotel are flat beds, clean towels and sheets, and no odd hairs clogging the drain. Towing services wouldn't occur to me. Of course, driving down muddy slurpy Forest Service backroads in February also wouldn't occur to me.

Why do you ask?

The motel gets bad reviews because we don't come save them. Other bad reviews the motel gets have to do with no restaurants are not open in the middle of winter to serve the 200 people that come through in the month.

I guess you just need to post back in the review that "We are sorry, but the hotel is not responsible for actions taken by the individual that place them in harms way while out enjoying the countryside. Please read the information provided that does address the services have available to our guests".

The absolute best I would expect from calling my Hotel/Motel might be a recommendation, with no expectations, only hope for who to or not to call locally for a rescue.
And as a local proprietor, I personally would likely know a thing or two, and would happily offer all I knew sans personally donning my own galoshes
I would also respond quickly to any potentially bad review. The more often you can reply with said offerings, all who read the review will see that the issue was handled with courtesy and in a timely manor. Real humans will be saddened that a motel proprietor even had to deal with such thoughtless individuals who feel the need to post such rubbish in order to feel exonerated for their behavior.
Some part or all of this information may have been accumulated during my recent two years on the road, dealing with literally hundreds of hotel/motels. And yes I have been buried up at a cell sites out in rural America.

There is no accounting for some people. Had a guy furious at me because he expected the museum to have live wild animals. Drove "hours out of his way" after seeing an online ad that clearly indicates it is a MUSEUM and not a ZOO. We don't get many unpleasant folks, but once in a while a visitor does his or her best to spoil everyone's day.
