Hard to forget

I lived in Southeastern CT, at the time, about 45 mins away, and I remember going to the 4 story parking garages, in New London, (right at the mouth of the Thames river, as it empties into Long Island Sound) and seeing the smoke and debris cloud.
There were several hundred people up there, and the mood was fury and shock.
A few days after, I went to visit some friends in the City, and we went to see the utter devastation.

I sat and cried, in sorrow and frustration.
I will never forget those dark days.

we went in that saturday, it was pretty unbelievable, I have seen pics from that evening from trucker friends who were parked, it was scary shit.

I have 2 friends that are Fire Fighters there, so we were able to go all the way to Ground Zero.
To say it boggled the mind, is possibly one of the biggest understatements I have ever made.
And I've been to active war zones.

amen...I still can't believe they aren't there, when we are on the LIE heading into manhattan or @ the beach you could always see them on a clear day.....

Yup yup, My Girlfriend and I still gauge movies, featuring the NYC skyline, as pre or post 9/11.

I remember watching the Edward Norton movie, The 25th Hour, and after a brief monologue that one of his friends gives, his friend stands up to walk away from the window seat in the condo, to feature a shot of the cleanup process, as seen through the window.


Jarring to say the least.

And a damn good movie too.

I'll also never forget the USS Cole either.

There are a lot of things like this that I'll never forget. Very dark days in our history.

I was in Saudi Arabia on 9/11. Not a day I will ever forget. I've tried to watch documentaries, but usually don't make it far.
