Pirating e-mail addresses
Need some help with how to deal with this.
Some of you guys know Kamikazee. Great old Master Gunny Ret. but not exactly "tech savvy" Well he called me yesterday in a panic saying that a friend of his said he better check his computer and all of his accounts and passwords cuz somebody hacked his e-mail. Well, long and short of it, somebody is using his e-mail account to send out 'scam' e-mail. It's the one sent to people on your contact list saying you are out of the country (in this case London) and need them to wire you money asap. He uses HotMail and does it directely from the server and to my knolowledge does not use Outlook. Aside from letting people on his contact list know of the problem (many are his age or older and just might be gullable enough) I'm not sure but believe just changing his password will not cure the problem. I'm thinking his account needs to be scrubbed or deleted and start over, including a new password. Would guess Microsoft/HotMail would also need to be notified. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
