just had to order a tire got a nail yesterday, plugged for now around town but wouldn't dream of getting on the road two up for the sept. B-day run to the twisted sisters without replacing it.

for one tire Americanmototire was cheaper with shipping included 109.03 compared to 122.95 from arizonamoto.com.

just out of curiosity I went through the steps of ordering front and rear to compare both sights prices $7.01 cheaper through americanmototire even with shipping both tires.... 198.89 to 205.90. wish I knew which company shipped faster etc... cause for a pair 7 bucks is a push and I'd go with which ever one I knew would get me best service.

Gray, curious what yours ran with shipping? How does Dennis Kirk compare then? You get one tire or a pair?

$108 shipped. They calculate the shipping fee into the equation. I just bought a rear.

Hey all - got a question.

I'm looking for a new rear tire, and when I spoke to the local guy about buying one online, he showed me on my tire a marking that told him my current tire was made in the 24th week of 2000 (The mark on the tire said "2400 and was in a kind of oval-edged rectangular "box" on the side of the tire, meaning there was a line around the info).

He said that a lot of places are selling tires cheaper because they're OLDER, and mentioned that if a tire has been sitting in a warehouse somewhere and not in a temperature controlled environment, you could end up with a not-so-fresh tire.

Anybody bought tires from one of the online places who could look at the tire for the little oval-edged rectangular box and see what week/year tire they got? (Travus noticed his tire was from '03 and his bike is an '05!).

I don't think it's a big deal if I get a tire that's not BRAND new, but I don't want one that's been sitting around getting hot and cold over and over in a warehouse for 2 or 3 years.

Any info/input would be appreciated.

Either I got screwed this year from Ronayers.com, or reading the wrong number....it was dark...

2289 is what my Metz 880 front tire said.

Hmmmm...according to the secret code, that would mean the 22nd week of 1989!! Maybe it's one of those Leap Year Stonehenge tires.....

Thanks for checking tho....

That's OK - you don't need to go to the trouble unless you're curious. I decided to just buy an Avon tire from the local guy and have him put it on - price isn't much more than ordering one from a site.

Thanks!

I bought mine back near 7/25... thats when I posted a message to this thread about finding my best price at americanmototire.com. Just looked and mine are stamped 2607 so thats the 26 week of 2007. Making mine born in the week of June 25th I guess. So mine were a month old when I got them. Makes me glad to find this out cause I had heard the same nasty rumor from local indy here that wanted me to buy 'his' tires... "ah them ones your getting online been setting around in a warehouse for years is why they're so cheap" ... Makes me feel better to not only think but now KNOW he F.O.S.

thanks Lady G

by the way, I have right at 4000 miles on my elite III on the rear (still running my cheaper slightly under rated Conti on the front) and it tracks sweet and true on paint, tar snakes and grooved pavement. I will stick with the E III's for good. Usually a tire feels good at first to me but by a couple thousand miles they start squirming on tar snakes etc... these still feel like the day I put them on.

Just ordered a pair; front and rear. Rear 402 is about shot; Front is still good but I'm weird that way -- have to stay "even".

Dunlop E3's enroute $100.95 for the rear; $86.95 for the front.
MU90HB16 (rear); MT90HB16 (front).
$199.45 total with shipping.

Amazon Premier Member.

Shipping from Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse.

.. and the dealer wanted $189 each plus $160 labor to install. Next; find a good indy to do the install in an hour instead of the 2 hrs the dealer wanted ..
