I wish we lived closer. I'm cleaning out the garage for the move and I would make someone a hell of a deal on this one.
What make is it. If the price is right and I can afford it, Might work out something with shipping?

They're Portable. They have wheels. Just hook it behind the bike and drag it home.

Down here on the South Coast, we are definitely conscious of generators during hurricane season (which is right now). I have used a Miller welding machine for almost 2 weeks to keep the fridge, TV, a small window A/C (a must for survival down here), and a few lights going after Hurricane Georges made us go dark in the 90's.
Unless you're planning on running the entire house and all appliances like nothing happened, a 5K generator and a few good extension cords should do the trick. Keep trips into the refrigerator to a minimum (use an ice chest for the beer), and you can fire it up for an hour at a time a few times a day and save a bunch of gasoline.
BTW, those small hnda generators will run all day and carry a helluva load on very little gas.

Well, I ended up getting a Generac GP 6500 E generator. 6500 watt output, 8000 watt surge, electric start, 7+ gallon fuel tank, 10 hour run time @ 50% output.

I shopped around a bit, best price was at Farm and Fleet. The local store was out of stock, but they issued me a rain check. The generator arrived a few days later. It only took about 10 minutes to assemble, it came with oil and battery, starts darned near instantly.

<clicky> for more info.

I'm confident it'll meet my emergency power needs.

It is one thing to buy a bike lift, that could lose a seal and drop down slowly, but it is a totally different thing to buy a Chinese (made for export) piece of machinery that is important to work. Having and engine and a generator to fail, what could go wrong?
