Honestly, don't have a real plan right now. Tax season is upon us, and early March the state will send us a personal property bill for the first half of the year on the motorhome.

Check your crank lately?
No problem on the stock lifters. Mine have been trouble-free and whisper quiet, perched on the shelf behind the little tool box. I checked them again yesterday.

Prices are decent too. I'd probably go with the performance version.

Mike, what are your thoughts on the Chevy lifters?

So far, they seem to have done well. I have not taken any apart yet, but may just to check inside.
This.

Here is the culprit.
Spring clip on the cam to cam plate connection. The clip was still in place, but both tabs for removal had broke off and is apparently what went through the motor. Will still bullet proof the bottom end, and get the heads cleaned up. Buddy who has a shop was by today and said everything else looks good. New bearings, lifters, maybe cam change and likely HPI TB also in order.

What would cause that?
Who's gonna do the bottom end? Make sure you remove the oil pan, clean it out real good. Chances are that there's crap in there, too.

Bottom end is either Dark horse or another vendor my buddy worked for and swears by. That is if I don't go new S&S for a sweet price. I'm told this pan is full of baffles and for $90.00 it might be better to go new.

Not the first time I've heard of that clip fracturing Mike. That being said I personally have never made it a point to install a new one every time. Guess it wouldn't hurt to though.
The pan has a riveted on baffle that completely covers the top. I'd buy a new one also. By the way, I was down at Don's shop Saturday. Sharp guy. Very knowledgeable. Does some very nice work. |

I received a reply from Don last night. I have a reservation for head work the second week of February.
