The Narc and the Northridge Boys

The Northridge Boys, were an interesting group of bikers from the North Dayton area. We regularly gathered at Crazy Clyde’s garage to shoot the shit, have a few beers and indulge in various and sundry illegal pharmaceuticals. They later evolved into a 1%er club, which is now defunct. Several were friends of mine and we made quite a few trips and runs together.

Back in the 70’s, the Boys and I rode up to a meet in the Lake Erie area, somewhere between Cleveland and Toledo . The usual suspects were assembled for the ride, yet an unfamiliar and large muscular fella, was assigned to driving the chase vehicle...an old van. No one seemed to know just exactly who he was.

I’d worked all night the night before and by day’s end, we had successfully drunk our way to the campground that the meet was taking place. Following the chase van into the campground, I was unprepared when he suddenly stopped the vehicle in front of me. Very lightly, my front tire tapped the rear bumper of the van, but the 8” front end extension on my Shovel became more than I could handle, and over I went.... Knowing how silly that I must have looked, in total embarrassment, I just laid on my back spread eagle, on the ground with the FXD laying next to me.

The next thing I know, the big newbie leaped from the van and in a loud voice proclaimed, “He’s had a heart attack!” He then proceeded to jump on top of me and thump on my chest with his huge meaty fists! Then he effortlessly, lifted me from the ground and got me in some kind of bear hug from behind, clasped his hands, and put his thumbs under my chest bone and proceeded to bounce me up and down! The pain was excruciating! .....My arms flailing, I screamed, “Put me down,...Put me down!...which, finally, he did.

This ol’ boy proved himself to be somewhat different, over the course of the weekend...I later found out that he was a narc, assigned to investigate the Northridge Boys.
