Acc. Switch
I have Orange, and Orange/Red (and black ground...) to my switch.
Can I tap into either of those orange wires? I have the wiring diagram and it just shows the wires running to the two main harnesses. |

my orange wire is tied into my spots to make them stay on while on high beams so dont see why you couldn't tap into it.
after looking at my diagram I have saved I guess I am tied into the orange/red wire... if you want the acc switch to control what ever your tieing into (your new spots I presume) then yes the orange would be the right one.

The ACC switch is for the "Air Conditioning Control".

I just want a source of power when ignition is turned on. I am wiring a power to a garage door opener (instead of using battery).
Basically taking a standard 12v garage door opener. Soldering in a HD odometer reset button and mounting button on inner fairing down low. Then sending 12v power to the remote so I don't have to worry about changing batteries out later on. Any other easy sources of power (up in fairing) would be cool to if y'all know of any... I just chose the ACC switch b/c it is easy to isolate and not wrapped up in tape or that shielding stuff. Gonna velcro mount the remote on top of the radio. |

Just tested my soldered in odometer button and it works great with battery in remote. Just need to get it spliced to power.
Of course, I can't test that b/c my ignition switch is in the garage floor. |

there's a hot and a ground in the same loom as your headlight wire... at least on my '06 there is. runs out of loom to a small black rectangular two pin female plug. I ran a amplified antenna on it for a while should work fine for what your wanting to do.

Cool. I will check the book. Only problem with those wiring schematics is they don't show if/when a wire is hot.... least I don't think they do.

Have you ever been a long way from home and accidentally hit your remote and then worry that your garage is sitting wide open?
I have. |
