Stock Derby Cover

Anyone have one that's laying around that isn't terribly beat up that will fit an 05 FXD? Doesn't need to be chrome...polished or black would be fine.

or

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to polish out some scratches on a stock cover? I've got one of those bench top grinder wheels that I could attach a buffing wheel onto...would that work...what kind of polish?

NO!

Chrome is only a few .0001 (that's ten thousandths of an inch) thick.
If it's anything beyond a scuff, you'll polish right through the chrome and into the nickel, through it and into the copper. Even with Simichrome and a rag. Leave it the hell alone.
Decorative chrome is soft and thin. Do not confuse it with industrial hard chrome. With decorative chrome, all the polish/prep work is done to the metal before application, like w/ paint.

The stock covers I have are not chrome. Look like semi-polished raw aluminum with a clearcoat on it (thin). DPH scuffed hers up a bit when she took a tumble once. Put a coat of paint on it to cover it up.

I didn't quite hear that...what did you say?

I have a stock chrome one off my 04' FLHRC. I don't see why it wouldn't fit.

Glad to hear that my 1200C with a chrome cover was a big boy model.
