V&H Ovals baffle rattle
Looks like it finally got me.
TalonChief was behind me and heard it in ES, but I kind of forgot about it. Then, yesterday I thought I heard it crossing a one-lane bridge, and Boop mentions at a gas stop that she hears something rattling when I'm accelerating in town. My question is how hard are those baffles to get out? Unscrew the screws and slide, or take off the muffler and have a slide hammer ready? Thanks!

Pull the muffler off, remove the screws, if it won't wiggle out, get a wood dowel big enough to act as a drift. USE CAUTION! That should do it.
You can find the dowel at Homeless Despot or Lowe's, they're used as closet hanger poles. About 1 1/4" diameter. Use it as a drift.

Cowboy up, little buckaroo! Pull it off, it's easier to manipulate. You'll only end up removing the muffler in the end, I'm trying to save you steps and headaches.

I've got them and they have been shot out for about 10,000 miles. I am gonna try those new SE Fat Shotz they just come out with if they will work on an 04.
I could never get my baffles out, I tried, I gave up and just put the mufflers back on. It was getting to the point where I was going to break them so I said screw it. I am losing faith in V&H all around.

Dave if the baffle comes out wile on the bike then I see no reason to take them off. In my adventures of taking baffles out, I have never had one just wiggle out. I have always had to take the muffler off and beat them out. Good luck with whatever method you choose to use.
