If I got more HP and TQ from every gimmick that says they give it, My EVO would make 200hp by now because I would have bought them all.
Looks like a pain to me and let's see, $200 divided by $10 for a regular filter is 20. 20x5000 is 100,000 miles. Yea that will pay for itself for most everybody.

Have to clean a stainless steel mesh at ever oil change, I do not like cleaning my air filter, and it is not even near that messy.

Sorry, I give it a Thumbs Down.

He claimed 4 HP and it started a brawl. If you change to their "special" oil also, they claim 9 HP. I'll stick to good synthetic and quality filter.

Thing is, he took offense at Grock calling it snake oil, and basically called him clueless. Grock has probably forgotten more about engines and performance than I or most members of VTF will ever know. Rather than simply asking why his dyno showed an increase, tiremuncher went on the attack. In doing so, instead of getting some good info from an expert, it became the usual bashing contest that all the experts avoid now.

In the end, we all lose out on some good analysis of what was really happening. Sad.........

The thread seems to echo the "usual" course of events upstairs. Facts only complicate a good fight.

As far as the merit of the filter, I guess it boils down to, does the backpressure of the stock filter rob 4-9 HP through energy expended in pumping pressure, before the bypass spring cuts in. Do you trust the filter to work as well as the stock filter. And are you willing to pay/put up with cleaning, the new filter.

I personally feel I can do better investing in other areas, but I think what is really going on is someone feeling offended that anyone would doubt his word. As with many other threads, reason has left the building, and it becomes a contest of ego. I have found myself "caught up" in such fights upstairs, and came here because it is a different demeanor, and I find it easier to "control myself."

This is my latest contribution to the subject:

Quote:
It is within a few hours of being 1 week since my first query to Pure Power.

Despite my sending this to them this morning at 8:15am pacific time, there is still no reply from Pure Power.

I am beginning to form a negative opinion of the company, and would be wary of their claims and products.

Quote:
This is my third request for information since 6-7-07. I am going to try one more time.

There is a discussion about one of your products and it's claims going on at *** (*-Twin Forums).

Some love your products, others are skeptical. I am in the latter group, but have not made up my mind about your products, as I do not have enough information to make an informed decission.

Claims are being made about power gains, and you make statements about oil and molecule size that do not seem to be correct. One individual who is a race engine designer, builder and developer has conducted dyno runs that do not produce results that match your claims.

I have submitted the following to you two times through the contact form on your site:
__________________________________________________ __________________________________
On this page of yours:
gopurepower.com/store/item.asp?itemKey=664

You state: "5 Micron Material Oil is 12 Microns; it can’t go through a 5 micron material. *Oil flows BY, NOT THROUGH."

What is "5 micron material oil"?

A simple search of several internet sites shows that the size of an oil molecule is 20-25 angstroms. This converts to approx. .002 - .0025 microns, not the 12 microns you state.

Could you clarify this discrepancy please?
__________________________________________________ ________________________________

This was submitted 6-7-07, and 6-11-07. There has been as of today, no reply. This is interesting, because on the contact page you comment on the care and quick response you claim to strive to provide to inquiries.

*** forums have over 50,000 member, and many of them are watching how this all will play out.

As of 5:20pm pacific time 6-15-07 there is no reply from Pure Power.

I run three parallel and their oil. 25 extra ponies. Saved me $2,000 in engine upgrades and I threw the Cialis prescription away.

Never called it "snakeoil" or anything else. With the little experience ( )I have, I just know that you can't gain those numbers from a freer flowing filter and oil change (new to new). I actually did test the PP filter against a new stocker on two bikes. Gained 1 HP and 1.1 TQ with same oil with the PP filter on a 95 with cam and heads. There were claims that the PP oil change REALLY made the difference so we did it with their oil also. From one run to the next, going from Amsoil to PP oil we lost a minimal amount of power, probably due to variance in the conditions so don't think the oil is going to rob you of power. But certainly no gain in many runs that we did.

We simply could not re-create the gains that were being claimed (not surprised). We'll stick to our recommendation for Amsoil lubes and a good filter (the new Amsoil filters seem good quality filter media).

All the best,

G
