If your rideing 10k a year, your battery should last more 2 years. Unless its big trips and not regular use.

I got a stator grommet leak right now too. I had the mess behind the inner primary. Was either jackshaft or the tranny seal, forget name. Who over said Harleys don't leak is in denial.

Doesn't hurt to replace battery and ground cables, but if they look good and are tight, might not be the problem. Might just be a proble m you face with an older bike.

Not sure if charging system or vibration.

If your really bored you could measure AC output from stator, check the lines with ohm meter to ground and each other. Could also check DC output of volt reg.

But if its not dying on regular basis, probably not it.

I know you want them right now so you are going to the dealer for cables.

Might I suggest this winter build yourself a set from really heavy grade cable, or spend the $60 and buy a good set, I know Howards sells them.

It would seem from your description your battery is fine. The problem is elsewhere.

what guage would you use for the strap? Im gonna check howards now, but in the meanwhile I cleaned the crap out of both cables and the strap ends and crimped them a bit tighter

now i just gotta wait about 20 minutes to start it cause I redid the pushrods/oring , buttoning up now

Continued thanks

Personally I would use #2. It's overkill, but less resistance is less resistance.

Howards has really good cables and they are only $39 for your bike.
