my first was in 91, an ibm clone, 386, 2 megs of ram, 80 meg hd. $1995
 I bought a fax machine in 86 for $1100, thermal roll paper with no paper cutter. In those days I was known as Ben Dover.

I had friends with C64's, TRS-80's, and Apple IIc's. I didn't see the point unless there was a game I was interested in for some reason. Stayed away from computers until I made a career move in the early 90's and built my first 486 DX2 50. Been on the bleeding egde of technology since.

we still had a commodore 128d computer a few years back laying in a closet. So we started it up and loaded an old games.... dear god.
i have no idea how we used to use those things. it took for ever to run anything on it. you just sat and sat waiting for it to load. it would beep and the blue screen would load, then type LOAD"*",8,1 then RUN then wait five minute then try playing the most horrible graphic game you ever saw. then the disk drive would make a horrible noise and the entire thing would freeze. then repeat... ah the good old days. ha

I held out for a "TX" Tandy 1000 from Radidio Shack. $3600.00 total out the door.
 Got an extra 20mb hard drive added to the 20mb hard drive it came with, 3.5 and 5.5 floppy drives, Processor was 10MHz, 15" VGA monitor. Flight sims...life was good. And, Leisure Suit Larry!Thorns
