A tool I found useful

When I was planning my engine build. It gives theoretical cold cranking pressure and dynamic compression for any particular engine build.

It came from another forum. I didn't do the work, but it's handy and it was publically posted so I'm passing it on.

Edit:
Terry I put it up on our server as well just in case:

Great job, I was just going to go looking for that, I know I have it on my computer somewhere. I'm going to change the head gaskets to .030 thousandths tomorrow maybe.

Wow! According to the chart, my 98" 615/585 build will be at 10.98:1 CR (9.75 corrected) and 205 CCP. Good thing I had compression releases installed!! Looks like I'll be carrying octane boost with me.

My redshift build is a little tamer. About 194 CCP and 9.5 corrected compression ratio.

Let's see what this summer brings. IHere's hoping we're both within limits to prevent detonation in the heat.

you'll be fine, this is where efi tuning shines. Otto will take care of it.

Now YB's is another story. haha!

By the way, what is the intake close on Steve's cam?

I have a slightly modified version in which you put in the barometric pressure if anyone is interested. I believe Hippo did the original.

When I dropped the heads off, I told them I had a .030 head gasket. He didn't write that down. The guy who I talked to wasn't the guy actually doing he work. He set the head up for a .040 hg.

Should I get a .040 hg, or should I run what I have?

A .040 would give me 10.74 CR, 9.54 corrected, 199.4 CCP......according to the chart

Do they even make a .040 for the 98"?

I have the 10.5 pistons (7.5 cc domes), 0 deck height, 81.4 cc chambers. I used 47 for the intake close.
Cam numbers are:
20/47
60/20
.615/.585
247/260

If you're having trouble downloading

You can also try right clicking on the link and choosing "Save target as" in the menu that shows up. This works in Internet Explorer, but not in firefox.

Could we put that one up as well. I'll put it on my site if it's a problem putting it on yours. Or I'm sure 8 would put it here.

I'm sure I will. I'm a little over the conservative max, but not that far. 194 should be fine. There's a gas station in Princeton though that only sells 87 octane.

That's about where I need gas heading west. Luckily I found a second station a mile down the road that sells higher octane stuff.
