Headlight trim ring rubber...

There's a PIA o-ring that gives me fits when trying to re-install my "headlight door" (as the Mother Ship calls it) or, so you'll know what I'm talking about, my headlight trim ring on my '05 Ultra. It fits inside the trim ring and around the headlight.
It gets in the way when trying to adjust the headlight, too, and that's why I have to take the ring off to begin with. I noticed David John's new bike didn't even have one, so, WTF?

My 07 has one, and you it blocks the holes a little.

By discontinuing the use of the o-ring HD was able to reduce their production cost by --------- oh about --$ 0.07 thus increasing their profit margin>

My 98 didn't have one and my 2003 doesn't have one. Buddy's 2004 is "ring free" too. What mutant bike did you end up with?

My springer headlight has one, and you're right, it is a pita. . . my thinking is it is to reduce vibration more than keeping out moisture. I did get it back in there, but it takes a lot of finger contortion to get it right. . .
