slip-ons ugggg
ok... I love the sound of my bassanis but the baffles in both of them have began to rattle. No amount of tightening will stop it. I took them off tonight and tried again to fix them. No go. Tapping the muffler with a rubber mallet makes them rattle profusely.
Anyone either: 43. Have a fix for this or MMXI. Have a set of good sounding slip-ons they will sell cheaply or hand-me-down? I would like to go true dual, but my recent flooring project has destroyed my budget. |

I've expanded the ends of the baffles before...that should take up any play...

did you try new clamps, I know after taking my slipons off many times for tire changes they just didn't tighten as well and the pipes would slide, I replaced both and they are fine now.

Yep. I have replaced one thus far. Those HD clamps suck anyway. You can tap the muffler with a rubber hammer when it is not installed and hear the baffles rattling.

Did not think about that. I guess I could try that. I bet it will be a SOB to get those baffles out now. |

Every square foot in the house is getting new covering. I have installed tile in the kitchen, breakfast table area, in front of the back door extending in front of the fireplace, washroom, and entry way with 18" porcelain. I still have to do the bathrooms and master closet. Those rooms will get 12" porcelain.
New carpet is going everywhere else. Currently, we have finished concrete in a lot of the house and carpet in the dining room (play room now), halls, and bedrooms/closets. I'll post up some pics as the project gets closer to completion. I learned I hate laying tile! Wellllll, not really. I just hate having to do a little at a time. It is cold and dark by the time I really get into it after work and then there is so much clean-up. Teaser Pic: This is the kitchen. That bit took like five hours. Laying tile is really not a one man job. |

Wrapping them sounds like the best solution, I'd try that first...shouldn't cost ya more than 10 to 15 bucks for some fiberglass mat...I've rewrapped my Kromewerks HP+ mufflers before...pretty easy to do.

stove rope from the hardware store. best baffle wrapping solution I've heard of yet. worked great on my Rush slip ons. with that you can wrap them till the glass is tight fit to the inside of the slipon so no more rattle. much denser packing than standard muffler packing you buy. after your done wrapping them tie it down with stainless steel tie wire.

I think Billy Mays has a product to fix that!
Wonder putty of some such shit. If the wrapping does not help, find out when the inside end of the baffle is. Measure carefully, drill a hole in the bottom of the pipe up into the inside end of the baffle. Put in a self tapping screw to hold the baffle in. Some times works, sometimes just leaves a hole in the pipe. I got nothing else. |

A guy I work with is thinking of selling his Ultra. He has some Rine TDs on. He agreed to take them off and sell them to me before he gets rid of the bike. Somehow, I don't see him ever selling though.... as much as he talks about. |
