That "hack" got some pretty decent numbers from my motor last spring. Some pretty reputable builders over here use him religiously. Good enough for me.

Felix is simply, absolutely, wonderfully fabulous. I chatted with the mechanic for quite a while. The fly wheel was rotating in an elliptical motion. He gave me a complete list of all the parts replaced, which includes not only the engine, but the chain tensioner, oil pan and stator and a zillion gaskets.

When I started her for the first time it was just amazing! They had put 10 miles on the new motor and the mechanic told me to take it easy. I used the break in method detailed by jasilva through the first 60-70 miles, ran her through various speeds for the next 40 miles, then pretty much rode her like I stole her after that.

I spent a lot of time just listening to her purr. . .about 300 miles worth.
